NET and Java

Some softwares require .NET Framework or Java to be installed on the host computer to run. You cannot even install them if they are not present in the system. You’ll see these messages if you try to install them:

java_error.zoom35

dotnet_error.zoom31

However, you can make these software portable but they won’t work at all if the host computer hasn’t got .NET or Java installed. Of course, you have to make it on a computer with .NET or Java is installed. Personally I prefer stand-alone applications which don’t rely on other softwares to run.

If you really want to bring a .NET or Java software with you wherever you go, you may be interested in virtual applications. However, this guide is about portable softwares so I won’t discuss virtual ones here. See the last chapter “Final Words” for some info about them.
